The overhaul of Invitel’s portal was followed by upgrading the portal motor from the 5.5 version to the all-new 6.0 (code name: Portal Engine TNG – The Next Generation) version, which is the world’s first open source, enterprise grade content management suite on the .Net platform. The aim of the project was to create outstanding, user friendly content driven portal experience providing customized content in order to increase user satisfaction and beat competitors.
The result of the Invitel – Sense/Net cooperation is a state-of-the-art portal and ECMS system which saves user preferences and provides content according to these metadata. The portal uses friendly URL’s, and its design reflects the renewed Invitel corporate identity.
The project was a great professional challenge because it involved unique tasks such as the automated migration of more than 500 pages and 1000 contents, and deploying the fully functional Beta 1 version of Sense/Net 6.0. Sense/Net’s services in the project also include fully outsourced support and operation, that is, hardware, software, network monitoring and support.
Custom developments such as navigation based on metadata were also added to the standard functions of the new system.
Invitel’s new portal uses the world’s first open source content repository. It is a quick, friendly, usable and interactive portal in two languages, English and Hungarian. The upgrade to Sense/Net 6.0 was carried out without any downtime. Enterprise grade cache and Network Load Balancing Services (NLBS) ensure the stability and performance of the new system.
